What is a Standby UPS?

According to SMPS, a standby UPS is a power supply that switches the power from being supplied from the primary AC wall power supply to a battery power supply. This type of UPS takes between approximately 2 ms and 10 ms to switch over to the battery, depending on how long it takes the system to detect the lack of power from the AC power supply. This form of UPS is considered the most efficient form of UPS and has an efficiency rating of 95 to 97 percent
